As soon as my sister and I got off the escalator at the George R. Brown Convention Center on our way to see the Houston Grand Opera's production of Norma, we were greeted with a gigantic sign— “The Show Will Go On—with the words, “HGO Resilience Theatre” written underneath.
“Where are you going?” asked Dallas’s favorite classical DJ Amy Bishop, as I was heading straight into Meyerson Symphony Center, which would have been great had I been planning to go see Jaap van Zweden in one of his final concerts.
“You are going to love this program,” Eduardo Vilaro told me as we shared a glass of wine last summer while his troupe, Ballet Hispanico was gracing the Jacob's Pillow Stage.
KINETIC, the conductorless ensemble directed by Natalie Lin, closes its third season with Musical Madness on May 6 at the MATCH with a program that includes works by Mozart, Carlo Gesualdo, Erkki-Sven Tuur, Osvaldo Golijov, Beethoven and the ensemble’s own Giancarlo Latta.
