BASQUIAT tells the story of the meteoric rise of youthful artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Starting out as a street artist, try living in Thompkins Square Park in a cardboard box, Jean-Michel is “discovered” by Andy Warhol’s art world and becomes a star. But success has a high price, and Basquiat pays with friendship, love, and eventually, his life.

Directed by Julian Schnabel, and starring Jeffrey Wright, Michael Wincott and Benicio Del Toro.

 

Patrons attending events in Strauss Square may bring their own food and drinks, including alcoholic beverages to the event. Soft-sided coolers and picnic baskets up to 16” X 16” will be allowed. Concessions, including alcoholic beverages, are also available for purchase at most events. However, purchased alcoholic beverages must be consumed in the defined area and may not be transported to the patron’s performance seat.
