All ages love this ageless “ghost story,” a true tradition to share. In creating his own adaptation, Stevens takes his cue from Dickens himself, who used to tour the country retelling it onstage, and from Patrick Stewart’s one-man dramatization. “I have always loved this story,” says Stevens. “No holiday season is complete for me without a generous helping of Scrooge, poor Jacob Marley, the three ghosts, Old Joe the fence, all the assorted Cratchits, nephew Fred, and all the rest – such vivid characters, and so much wonderful descriptive narrative.”

Intermission will feature Christmas carols in the lobby, led by choristers from local churches, plus hot cider and figgy pudding and door prizes.

Opening night is Thursday, December 6, at 7:30 p.m., then on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., with two Sunday matinees on December 9 and December 16 at 2:00 p.m., plus Thursday, December 13, at 7:30 p.m., and closing on Christmas Eve. For tickets call 713-467-4497 or click CountryPlayhouse.org.
