Dallas Theater Center presents Next Fall at the Kalita Humphreys Theater, unhealthy April 13 – May 6, see directed by Kevin Moriarty. Next Fall marks the return of former DTC Acting Company member Candy Buckley to the Kalita stage, Terry Martin’s DTC Mainstage debut and four area artistic directors working on one project – Kevin Moriarty (DTC), Tre Garrett (Jubilee Theatre), Terry Martin (WaterTower Theatre) and Steven Michael Walters (Second Thought Theatre).
Next Fall is the story of Adam, a fervent atheist, and Luke, a devout Christian. Despite their differences, the two make their relationship work and are able to weather life’s ups and downs for five years. And then an accident changes everything. Adam finds himself turning to Luke’s conservative family and friends for support and answers. The New York Times says this 2010 Broadway hit and Tony Award®-nominee for Best Play, “embodies something theatergoers have been sorely missing, perhaps without knowing it for years. A smart, sensitive, immensely appealing and utterly contemporary comedy.”
“DTC’s goal is to continue to spark a dialogue with our community – people from all backgrounds, age groups and personal experiences – about ideas that matter in our lives,” says DTC Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty. “Next Fall will inspire a conversation about the intersection of faith and sexuality. Throughout the play, which is quite funny as well as deeply moving, the characters reflect multiple points of view about these issues, with each viewpoint and experience portrayed sensitively and compassionately; the resulting conversation has the potential to be powerful and impactful.” Tickets online at www.dallastheatercenter.org
