Ground Floor Theatre presents the world premiere of I Wanna Be a F*cking Princess by Jenny Connell Davis and directed by Patti Neff-Tiven, May 8- 25. Described as “a fractured, fractious, high-octane fairy tale, the play “examines and explores the stories we’re told about how to be Good Girls…and asks what it means to be good women and good friends.”
Romeo & Juliet at Ballet Austin
Ballet Austin presents Stephen Mills’s Romeo & Juliet on May 9-11 at The Long Center. With Sergei Prokofiev’s iconic score played by the Austin Symphony Orchestra, costume design by Tommy Bourgeois and lighting design by Tony Tucci, Ballet Austin wraps up their season in classic splendor.

Doug Varone & Dancers at TITAS/DANCE UNBOUND
TITAS/DANCE UNBOUND closes its season on May 23 at the Winspear Opera House with Doug Varone & Dancers in Varone’s masterwork, To my Arms/Restore, Set to a suite of exquisite arias by G. F. Handel, the two-part work embodies Varone’s fascination with the interplay between the deeply emotional and the immensely physical.
A Strange Loop at Circle Theatre
Fort Worth’s Circle Theatre presents the regional premiere of Michael R. Jackson’s A Strange Loop, June 19-July 12. The Pulitzer Prize and 2022 Tony Award winning musical“offers a bold and exhilarating dive into the life of Usher, a Black queer musical theater writer navigating his identity, creativity, and personal challenges.”
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Dallas Theater Center
Dallas Theater Center ends its season with the Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the classic Broadway musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, directed by Tiffany Nichole Greene, June 13-July 14 at the Dee & Charles Wyly Theatre. Based on the Bible’s Book of Genesis, the musical is filled with family friendly songs and dance.

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo at Performing Arts Houston
Performing Arts Houston presents the legendary all-male comic ballet company Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo June 26 & 27 at Cullen Theater in Wortham Center. The much beloved Trocks arrive in Houston as part of its landmark 50th anniversary season featuring gems from across the company’s groundbreaking repertoire.
SMITH WORKS at Vitacca Ballet
Vitacca Ballet presents SMITH WORKS, an evening of work by resident choreographer Garrett Smith, including Somewhat Closer, Hypnotic Forces, After Silence and a world premiere on May 15-16 at 7:30pm at The Hobby Center, Zilkha Hall. Former Houston Ballet Dancer, Smith has set works on such outstanding companies as Teatro Alla Scala, The Mariinsky Ballet, The Bolshoi Ballet, Les Grands Ballet Canadiens, New York City Ballet and Norwegian National Ballet.
Sparrow at Houston Ballet
Houston Ballet closes its season on June 12-22 at Wortham Center with considerable choreographic heft with a program that includes Stanton Welch’s nostalgic romp, Sparrow, set to Simon & Garfunkel’s songs, Ben Stevenson’s elegiac Four Last Songs, set to music by Richard Strauss and George Balanchine’s elegant Theme and Variations, set to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The Orchestra San Antonio at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts
The Orchestra San Antonio opens the CMI 210 Festival on June 7 with a concert featuring conductor François López-Ferrer making his debut at the Tobin’s H-E-B Performance Hall stage in a program that includes works by Clarice Assad, Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Ludwig van Beethoven.
SOLI Chamber Ensemble
SOLI Chamber Ensemble presents Cancionero, which includes the world premiere of Cancionero de luto (Mourning Songbook) by Puerto Rican-born Cuban composer Armando Bayolo on May 12 at Mark’s Episcopal Church. Cancionero de luto, commissioned by SOLI and Yale University for the Choral Arts Ensemble of the Yale Divinity School, is a response to the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting and similar tragedies. The program also includes Blaze by Dianna Link from SOLI’s 30x30x30 Project, Shawn Okpebholo’s reimagining of Amazing Grace for solo piano, and entre azul y buenas noches by Marco-Adrián Ramos.
